What I have:
A great job
A fantastic family
A reasonable retirement fund
Three fun filled dogs
A motorcycle
From others:
Affection and love from the wife, kids and dogs
Responsibility and authority in my job
Lessons in life and experiences well beyond what I could have achieved on my own
What I’ve done right:
Made the decision to come back to my job in Chesterfield
Pursued my college degree
Allowed my wife to pursue her career and drag me along with her to another home
Supported my kids at every opportunity
What I really want:
To live on a sailboat in the Caribbean with my wife
L – I love being on the water, I love my wife and she loves me and being on the water. A perfect match
P – The power associated with controlling the course, destination and when you travel by sail provides you FR – Freedom.
Something I could add:
More time – I find myself multi-tasking frequently to the point I sometimes worry that I am not putting the full effort into the tasks at hand.
It would meet my need for:
Power – I would feel more in control of the tasks and the destiny that I am heading for.

I agree, more time is a definate need to improve happiness. Unfortunately, we have a hard time understanding that sometimes. I know that if I am not always doing something, I feel like I am waisting time or waisting something. Sometimes, I guess we need to step back, relax and just enjoy life. I guess a corny line from National Lampoon's Van Wilder is: "Never take life too seriously, you'll never get out alive." It may sound funny, but it is true.

I agree as well, but I would add more time on happiness leads to a path to contentment.
There are times when I can leave work early, mostly to avoid OT, and I feel like I'm cheating them on time. I am so used to spending 8 hours at work daily, that when I only have to work 4, I still feel like I should be there.
I have to remember to stop and smell the roses so to speak and spend more time relaxing and less time worrying.
Nice post.
Rob,
I know how you feel. We have so many great things and opportunities in our lives, but there is always a sense of being rushed. We feel rushed becuase there is always something else awating our attention. If there were just a few more hours in the day, or an extra day or two in a week so much more could be accomplished.
At least we have the ability to multitask. If it were not for that skill I wouldn't get anything accomplished either. Hopefully like you, I am dedicating enough effort to the tasks at hand. I too feel like I could/should do more, but I can't.
I know exactly how you feel on the issue of feeling like you are not giving your all to some tasks because there are so many things to do on the agenda. Time management is the most important attribute that each of us can have and probably our biggest of enemies.
Keeping busy is what all of us adrenaline junkies thrive on.
Again we see time here-I love it. It is a concept that we all should learn as early as possible. You mention multi-tasking and failing to give 100 percent effort in the task at hand, I understand this well I think. I often find myself getting frustrated with myself at doing that but the circumstances usually dictate as such. When it is of my own design, or procrastination, I realize that it is the refresher that I need to put myself in check. I have just started taking holiday pay in comp time and actually using the vacation leave that I earn. Before, I would hoard it so that I may retire early but lately I have been wanting to take little breaks and spend time with the wife. I still would like to see the Caribbean from the deck of a sailboat. That would be something that I think that I would like to do one day. I do hope that you get everything that you want.
